Our Project Dal Campaign

Dal FSAE is thrilled to be one of the first projects on Dalhousie's new Project Dal crowdfunding site! Project Dal is a new platform to help Dal's students, alumni, and friends fundraise. It's run by Dal's Office of Advancement, and they're helping us spread the word about our team.

Our campaign on Project Dal is helping us get our team to Michigan. Sending a team of students down to USA is expensive, so we need all the help we can get! This year, we have an extremely motivated team, and everybody is absolutely itching to go to FSAE Michigan this May.

Check out our page at https://projectdal.ca/project/dalhousie-fsae-michigan-competition/ - please help us spread the word!

Meetings for New Members

Welcome to the 2017 school year! We hope everyone had a great summer and that nobody is too scared of heading back to class.

Our team is going to be holding two meetings for anybody that's interested in joining the team. The first one is on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 12 noon, and the second is one week later on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 12 noon. Both of these meetings will be at Dal's Sexton Campus in the Design Commons. (If you're new to Dal, this room is right underneath the Sexton Gymnasium.)

Come out if you want to learn a bit about the team. We don't care what discipline, year, or program you're in; all Dal students are welcome.

See you there!

'CAR-beque Fun'

It was an eventful day filled with new potential members and edible burgers!

Team members were explaning to potential newbies of the car and upcoming projects the are tasked to do, as they are holding a plate of edible barbequed burgers and chips.

Some Pictures to show case this event!

FRAME PARTY!!!!

Hello,

During a beautiful Saturday morning right here in Halifax, Nova Scotia (proof is by the pictures shown below), 14 members of our team decided to lock ourselves in a wonderfully, windowless computer room.

The team of 14 stayed for 5 full hours,  working on 3D sketching, rules, weldments and stress studies in solidworks. The following pictures below shows our hard working dedication. Thankfully we have order pizza to sustain our hunger during this hard work.

And now a quote by Erin of what we have done;

" Jeff was the quickest to get a frame roughed out, while Alec and Josh tried testing Percy's reactions to impact as if he was made of water. Emily borrowed the design commons kettle and made tea before we all stuffed our faces with pizza.  It was a good time ( chassis knows how to party ).
Shaymus has outlined the patterns for the tire covers.
We now have two " rod ends in bending" police who will be ensuring that we don't have rod ends in bending for any of our frame designs.
More policing jobs will be put in place as frame design continues. "

And that is all.
See you next time.

Design Meeting Recap: April 2016

Dal FSAE had a strong start to our summer semester. We sadly had to say goodbye to our team captain, Keegan, as he returns to Ontario for the summer. In his place, Greg began his position as the team's summer lead. He presented some aggressive deadlines for the team and we got to work after a quick update and a Tim's run.

We worked on three big things this weekend. First, we took the engine out of the old car. We plan on teaching some new members how to tune the engine, practicing on our old motor. Next, the chassis system got themselves organized, putting together all of their calculations from the previous term to get ready to design the new frame. Finally, the engine team made an inventory of our sensors and researched some issues in setting up our new CRF450.

Design Meeting Write-Ups

Hello all!

In order to keep everyone updated about the progress we're making, we've decided to publish meeting notes from our monthly design meetings and workdays. Hopefully this will give everyone a better idea of what we're up to, and the progress that has been achieved by each system.

The next design meeting is scheduled to take place this Saturday, April 21st at 9AM.

We hope to keep this consistent every month we meet.

Take care,

-DalFSAE
